Jewelry

Happily tucked away in my art glass studio in Sedona, Arizona, I am a visual artist, playing with light, color, heat and glass.  These are the elements that help to create light transmission through translucent forms.

I studied art in California, at Orange Coast College, Laguna School of Art and Design, and Pasadena City College.  After many careers in the world, I moved to Sedona in 1990.  Feeling right at home at the Sedona Art Center allowed me to resume and expand my skills in the fields of stained glass and ceramics.  In 1991, I bought my first glass-fusing kiln and began experimenting with the possibilities of making miniature stained glass windows.  This led to fused glass jewelry — affordable, wearable glass art.  My work first appeared in the SAC gallery around 1994. The process involves choosing colors, visualizing designs, cutting, grinding, heating the glass to 1700º, and slow cooling before incorporating the jewelry findings.  This unique process combines ancient glass fusing techniques, space-age technology, and the magic of artistic creativity.

Over the years I have developed and refined many of my own techniques involving color combinations, glass combinations, hot-glass manipulation, custom findings, wire wrapping, wire embedding, grinding, and fire polishing which, I believe, give my jewelry creations their unique look and feel.

Part of the joy of working in the studio each day is combining positive and uplifting intentions with the creative inspirations I feel.  This helps to infuse more meaning into my work for me, and many clients have commented on their appreciation of the good intentions which they feel are part of my dichroic glass jewelry.  I am grateful to know from extensive feedback that women around the country enjoy my jewelry, and it gives me great joy to help bring light and beauty to the appearance of so many wonderful souls.

When I’m not in the studio, I enjoy cooking, gardening, flower arranging, yoga and meditation, entertaining friends and family, tending to my cat, my dog, my husband Jim, and exploring and hiking through the unending magnificence of Sedona and Northern Arizona.
