Description
The Aeolian Isles are a chain of tiny islands that lie off the northwest corner of Sicily. They have been inhabited since the stone age and were important stopping points in early Greek and Roman navigation. They were also coveted vacation spots for wealthy Romans who wished to escape the summer heat and malarial epidemics of mainland Italy.
This cross was designed in silver from a large bronze cross we discovered on the island of Panarea in the fall of 2007. This island is a tiny gem, no automobiles, gorgeous scenery, and wonderful, friendly people.
