Rick Kinateder, a native of Prescott, Arizona, has lived in Provo, Utah since graduating from Brigham Young University in Art and Design. He initially wanted to become an architect, but his drawing and design skills led to his founding a successful design, architectural rendering, and model building business in the intermountain west for over 40 years. Rick has taught design, rendering and watercolor classes at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. For several years now he has been devoting his artistic talents to his pursuit of fine art and plein air painting. His participation in plein air events has produced many award-winning watercolor and oil paintings.
With his love of travel and nature, his art focuses on landscape painting where he loves to capture the dramatic light and color of the west’s famous vistas. Rick’s love of architecture is often the focal point in his paintings as he features buildings from his travels. He is excited to be invited back to one of his favorite places to paint and to participate in the Sedona Plein Air event.
Rick’s art has been exhibited at the Sears Invitational Art Show, the Springville Museum of Art Invitational Show, and other western venues. He is currently represented by Brushworks Gallery in Salt Lake City.
