Description
The earliest appearance of the cross in human history is the simple image of equalateral crossed bars. Perhaps this symbolized the concept of earth and sky, the four directions, and combined within a circle, the sun wheel. The pivotal center point represents the creative power of God.
The cardinal points-north, south, east, west, are important in the cosmology of many cultures, especially those of the American Indian where each direction has a specific totem animal.
These crosses incorporate Southwestern symbols etched into Baltic Amber, a spiral and 2 motifs derived from Navajo rug designs.
