Description
Centuries ago a Spanish galleon sank off the coast of Ireland, near the small fishing village of Claddagh. Among the artifacts modern divers salvaged from the wreck was a ring in the form of two hands holding a heart.
That design has become known as the Claddagh. For many generations it has been used as the traditional betrothal and wedding ring for the people of Claddagh. Irish artists use the design in many of their creations.
